One of the key drivers of modern foriegn languages (MFL) in KS2 education is the National Languages Strategy, which set out the government’s commitment to increasing the nation’s language capability. One of the key elements of the National Languages Strategy is the aim to introduce an entitlement to language learning for every pupil throughout KS2 by 2010.
As many primary school teachers often have little experience with foreign languages employing an EDs language expert gives your pupils the chance to learn from an experience language coach whilst helping you as a school organise your PPA and timetabling commitments. EDs offer PPA cover in the form of French, German and Spanish language tuition.
All of our lessons are planned inline with national curriculum guidelines and QCA schemes of work, taking note of the three strands of the KS2 framework for languages;
Oracy – listening, speaking and spoken interaction is a key learning area for MFL. Children will have the opportunity to participate in exercises and learn by listening to the teacher, songs, rhymes etc. recognising familiar and unfamiliar sounds. They will then reproduce these sounds themselves to create phrases and sentences.
Literacy – Literacy skills are support by and in turn reinforce the development of oracy. Children will work with new mediums of basic letters and writing, playing games learning the relationship between sounds and letters/characters.
Intercultural Understanding – engrained in MFL is the knowledge of other cultures, people and traditions which can be reinforced through fun learning practices and role play.
All of our experienced language experts are either native or fluent speakers in their chosen language. As with all of our coach’s languages experts hold enhanced CRB disclosures, first aid certificates and have previous experience working with children.
